Basic formula

AC running cost = watts ÷ 1000 × hours × electricity price per kWh × days.

Example

A 1500 W air conditioner used 6 hours per day for 30 days uses 270 kWh. At 0.20 per kWh, the cost is 54.

What changes the real cost

Room size, insulation, outside temperature, thermostat setting and AC efficiency all affect real usage.

Practical use

This calculation helps compare settings and estimate summer electricity bills.
